content repurposing

Creating new and helpful content is extremely important for your business, but sometimes you don’t have the time or energy to whip up anything new. When this happens you can actually draw upon older content to create something fresh and unique.

Just because something is old doesn’t mean it’s not relevant anymore. With the tips we offer in this post you can revive a perfectly good piece of content without having to reinvent the wheel.

If you’re stuck on creating new content for your blog, then repurposing old content might be a great choice for your business. Below we offer a few different ways you can effectively repurpose old content.

Let’s jump in!

1. Turn Informative Posts Into Infographics or Presentations

Do you have any posts on your blog that took a lot of research to put together? Or maybe you have a massive educational list post you wrote a few months ago?

If you have meaty enough content that takes a unique stand on a topic, or offers a slew of new statistics, then you can transform this existing content into something more visual.

This will benefit your readers as some of your audience probably prefers to consume information in a visual context. Plus, once you create your infographic or presentation, you can upload it to a variety of sites across the web, like SlideShare, and Visually, and obtain some new backlinks for your site.

If you’re not a designer, then you can use a tool like Canva to create a stunning infographic. For a slideshow presentation you could utilize your current presentation software on your computer, like PowerPoint or Keynote.

2. Combine Multiple Posts Into Ultimate Guides

If you’ve been blogging for a while, then chances are you have a series of blog posts that could all be combined into one massive resource post. Think of these posts as the ultimate guide on the topic.

Usually, these kind of posts run into the multiple thousands of words and get widely shared and linked to. See if you have a series of five or six posts that can all be combined into one post.

Instead of having this post be a massive wall of text, consider adding extra formatting, images, and even a table of contents to better help your readers utilize the content.

The goal with this style of post is to create a post that your users bookmark and reference time and time again.

3. Update Older Blogs With New Information

Not everything you write is going to stand the test of time. Sure, the core ideas might remain the same, but maybe you’re linking to outdated sources, or referencing a piece of equipment that’s no longer in use.

You can give your old posts a refresher anytime you like, just make sure you update the post to the newer date, so it will sit at the top of your blog and the readers will be aware of the update.

Also, if you have any posts that have ‘2016’ in the headline make sure you update the post and the headline to reflect the current year.

And there you have it, three different ways you can update and re-use older content while still providing value to your readers. If you’re interested in a content strategy that’ll help take your online presence to new heights, then reach out to our team today.
