A successful SEO strategy requires knowledge of what’s currently working. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of noise out there, and it can be hard to decipher between what actually works and what doesn’t. Here are few SEO Myths.

SEO Myths Covered

Lucky for you we’re going to dive into five of the most common SEO myths that simply aren’t true anymore. Keep reading to see if any of these things are keeping your website stuck.

1. Ranking Position Doesn’t Matter

The position of your website in the search engines will greatly influence the amount of traffic you’re going to receive. The difference in a single position could be the difference in thousands of visitors every single month.

The lower your website ranks for a desired search term, the less traffic it will receive. Ranking high in the search engines will also help increase the authority of your business in the eyes of the seacher.

2. Internal Links Aren’t Important

A lot of people think that external links are the only kind that matter when it comes to SEO. This simply isn’t true. Internal links help notify Google to what your website is actually about.

Internal links will improve user experience, which will keep visitors on your site longer. This will help to  decrease bounce rates and improve your ranking.

Your internal links should link to relevant pages within your website, as well as, link out to authority sources to build credibility.

3. You Don’t Need SEO

If your business is already successful, then you could be thinking that you don’t need to do any SEO. However, if you want to improve your online visibility, then SEO is a necessity.

Some people still believe that SEO is dead everytime Google unveils a new algorithm update. However, this isn’t true either. Usually, this only means that a shift in strategy is required.

4. Quantity Of Backlinks Is All That Matters

In the old days of SEO you could get away with purchasing thousands of backlinks to your website, and you’d see it rank highly for relevant terms. This is no longer the case, and implementing this strategy will only trigger a Google penalty.

The quality of your backlinks is just as important, if not more important, than the quality of backlinks you have. Always seek out the highest quality and most relevant backlinks for your website.

5. Social Media Isn’t Important

Social media isn’t currently an indicator for search engine algorithms. However, you can bet it will be in the future as the web becomes increasingly social. Having a dedicated social media following can also increase the chances of people linking to your content, which will increase the number of relevant backlinks your site has.

Chances are you don’t want to do your entire SEO strategy alone. We hope we have covered all SEO Myths. If that’s the case, then why don’t you reach out to our team. We can craft a totally unique SEO strategy that’s engineered to get results for your business.
