If you’re trying to get the most value possible out of your content, then you’ll want to engage your readers as much as possible. If you’re trying to garner more social shares, then tell your readers to share. If you’d like your existing readers to join your email list, then tell them. If you want them to email your blog post to a friend, then tell them that.

You must define a specific action you’d like your readers to take and then tell them to do it. Without being explicit, they’ll probably read your content and leave. To get the most value from your existing content you must active and engage your readers.
