Long-Term SEO Strategy

A lot of times it’s easy to forget about your customers in your SEO efforts. When we’re wrapped up in conversation rates, rankings and other metrics it’s easy to forget there’s another human on the other side of the exchange. However, building customer loyalty and rewarding your long-term customers can actually benefit your SEO strategy.

Don’t believe us? Inside we’ll show you how relationship-building should be a cornerstone of your marketing efforts.

Why Customer Retention Matters

It’s less expensive to sell to existing prospects than to acquire a new customer. Older customers who feel like part of your business are also more likely to share your content, talk about your business to their friends, and promote your services. Presuming they had a positive experience.

Happy customers can become customer advocates if you continually delight them. This means they can help grow your online reputation without you having to do any extra marketing or promotion work.

The best way to start building long-term customer relationships is by following the Long-Term SEO Strategy below.

1. Always Welcome New Prospects

The moment someone take interest in your business or product you need to make them feel valued. This can be as simple as sending them a welcome email that expresses your thanks, or even a simple thank you phone call.

Some companies even go the extra mile by sending small physical gifts to their new prospects. Don’t be afraid to get creative and find new ways to make your new prospects feel welcomed.

2. Exceed Their Expectations

Always exceed expectations. If your proposed deadline is one week for now, deliver in five days. If you’re sending them a physical product, why not throw in a free sample or another smaller product.

However, beyond simply doing the act make sure they’re aware you went the extra mile for them. This isn’t to brag, but just to make them aware how much you care about them.

3. Engage On A Regular Basis

Continued engagement is crucial to keeping your customer in the loop. If you’re constantly at the top of their minds there’s a higher chance they’re going to buy from you again.

This can be as simple as having a customer giveaway, or even a customary check-in email to see how your customers are doing. Simple acts like this can go a long way.

4. Consider Cross-Selling

As you build up trust over time you can also entertain your older prospects with cross-sells of your services, and other similar services. You can even recommend a supplementary product from another vendor. This makes your customer feel like you care about them, and are constantly thinking about their needs.

Building relationships with long-term customers does take time and effort, but it’s time well-spent. Over time, these customers will form a solid backbone for your brand, and even do some of your promotion for you.
